Professional

The road to one's future takes many unexpected turns, as I have discovered over the past couple of years. I am now in the process of completing my degree in Secondary Education, with an English major and Political Science minor. I am also in the Ford and Honors Institutes. The Gerald R. Ford Institute grants me a concentration in Public Policy and Service, and, by taking four Honors seminars and writing a senior honors thesis, I will have Honors on my undergraduate degree. My senior thesis was entitled "Educators' Roles in Child Abuse Intervention: A Comprehensive Look at Child Abuse and Its Related Policies and Effects."

I am currently finishing up a program through the Education Department, called Maymester, during which I have been teaching a 7th grade social studies class at Albion's Washington Gardner Middle School. To view my reflective and professional portfolios of this experience, click here.

Although I walked at commencement on May 10, 2008, I will return to Albion in the fall for a ninth semester for my student teaching. I will be student teaching in a 10th grade English classroom at Parma Western High School.

After student teaching, I plan to teach through the Peace Corps. As of now, I am tentatively scheduled to leave for Africa in February. I am so excited for this new adventure in my life, and I am sure that I will return home with so many new and exciting things to share in my following profession.
